“Kinky Reggae” by Bob Marley & The Wailers, performed live at the Lyceum Theatre in London, 1975.

Just imagine how many kids Bob Marley would have if he could settle down in a kinky part of town.

    “Carolina” by Girls

Remember “Hellhole Ratrace” by Girls? Of course you do, you first saw it passed around on Tumblr. This song is from a follow-up EP called “Broken Dreams Club,” and it, too, is cool.

If I had to do something terrible and describe them as a mix between two bands, I’d say Pet Sounds-era Brian Wilson and some crying, whiny baby who makes awesome guitar music.

Anyway, the song switches up about halfway through, so just let it build on you.

“Cali Diseaz (Muzik)” by Shade Sheist & Nate Dogg

Nate Dogg died of a stroke yesterday. Nate Dogg helped to create the “West Coast sound” just as much as Warren G and Snoop Dogg. When everyone else was doing gangsta rap, they weren’t afraid to pay homage to the soulful, fun music they grew up on and loved.

This is my favorite Nate Dogg song. Even though he was known more for singing the hook than his own songs, I only listen to this song for his voice. So mellow and cool.
