A family friend of mine, Pablos Holman, speaks on some of the amazing projects he works on at Intellectual Ventures, including:

• constructing a laser defense system from common consumer electronics to protect humans against Malaria-infected misquitoes
• putting tubes made from used tires into the ocean that cool off the surface to prevent hurricanes
• floating a garden hose into space with a helium balloon to spray a reflective particulate (sulfur dioxide) to shield the Earth from UV rays and reduce global warming
• inventing a new fission reactor that runs on depleted uranium.
